10 Years of Heifer's Own Beer!

For the last decade The Wensleydale Heifer, a luxury boutique hotel and restaurant near Leyburn, has been working with The Yorkshire Dales Brewing Co Ltd who create their house ale. The end product, as well as being a firm favourite with its guests, is also a celebration of all things Yorkshire.
Based in Askrigg, North Yorkshire, the brewery, run by Ron and Anne Wiltshire, created Heifer Gold specifically to complement the restaurant’s menu which uses a wide range of locally-sourced Yorkshire ingredients.
The cask-conditioned ale has proved hugely popular with guests and sees more than 20 casks a week enjoyed in the Heifer’s bar and restaurant.
With just six miles between where the beer is brewed and the West Witton-based Wensleydale Heifer, the conditions are perfect to ensure the beer remains at optimum quality and grounded in its Yorkshire roots. Even the malt used within the drink is from Yorkshire, having been sourced in Castleford.
The result is a fruity and tangy ale which goes perfectly with the Heifer’s signature fish dishes.
The brewery also recently created a hand-bottled version of Heifer Gold which is available in gift hampers at the hotel, used as gifts for special occasions such as Father’s Day or in the hotel’s wide range of themed rooms.
Owner of The Wensleydale Heifer Lewis Moss said: “We’re absolutely dedicated to working with local suppliers wherever possible and we have had a fantastic decade-long relationship with Rob and Anne at the Yorkshire Dales Brewing Co.
“The ale they have created for us is unique and it is our best-selling cask ale. Rob and Anne are passionate about creating wonderful ales and that shines through in Heifer Gold.”
